The definition of sustainability refers to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability and needs of future generations. For this reason, at CYDSA, caring for the environment is both a corporate responsibility and an opportunity to innovate and lead to sustainable practices.
As part of the Group’s Sustainability Model, the Environmental Action Line focuses on two priorities.
Emissions
1 Reduce the Intensity of Scope 1 and 2 Emissions of the CYDSA Group to a range between 0.65 and 0.85 tCO2 e/t produced by 2030, which is equivalent to a reduction in the indicator of between 50% and 62% compared to the level of 1.7 tCO2 e/t produced in 2018.
Circular Economy
2 Increase the Volume of Recirculated Water of the CYDSA Group to a range between 2.40 and 2.80 million m3 by 2030, which corresponds to an increase in the indicator of between 98% and 131% compared to the level of 1.21 million m3 in 2018.
3 Increase the Volume of Wastewater Extracted by the CYDSA Group to a range of between 0.85 and 1.40 million m3 by 2030, which corresponds to an increase in the indicator of between 46% and 139% compared to the level of 0.58 million m3 in 2018.
The first priority focuses on the reduction of net greenhouse gas emissions. Given the nature of chemical processes, which involve gas releases and fuel combustion—across the Group’s Business Units, the implementation of emission mitigation technologies has been constant throughout its history.
Below is CYDSA Group’s information on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, as well as emissions intensity, for 2024.
The second priority focuses on promoting a circular economy, an economic model aimed at minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency. Specifically for this priority, and considering today’s water scarcity, CYDSA concentrates on water consumption in its operations, including the volume of recirculated water and the volume of extracted wastewater or treated water.
Below is CYDSA Group’s information on the volume of recirculated water for 2024.
Volume of Recirculated Water in thousands of cubic meters
Variation % 2024 vs 2023: 16.6%
Variation % 2024 vs 2018: 85.3%
